No matter your hair type, it is essential to detangle your natural hair on a regular basis and especially on your wash days!
When detangling kinky curly afro hair, using a wide tooth comb is one of the best hair tools to detangle your natural hair. The best time to detangle your hair is when conditioning it. You can also detangle before and after shampooing.
WHY you should detangle your hair:
Reduces knots and tangling of the hair
Removes shedding of hair that has broken
Allows for easier styling
STEPS on how to CORRECTLY detangle your natural hair with a WIDE TOOTH COMB:
Split hair into sections (preferably four)
Detangle one section at a time
Start by combing the ends of the first section until the ends of the hair is detangled
Then start to comb the hair from the ends to the mid section until the mid section is detangled
Comb the hair from the ends to the mid section to the roots until the root is detangled also
The comb should move freely from the roots to the ends of the hair for the section of hair to be fully detangled
Repeat for the other sections of hair
